Western Digital Raptors Personal Review
Just bought a couple of Wester Digital (WD) 74GB Raptors in manila last saturday. They cost P7,600 each. The price is very reasonable considering its space which is only 74GB with a speed of 10,000 RPM. Upon arriving to my cribs in the afternoon and after taking a nap I have successfully installed the raptors in my rig. I’m using ASUS Commando as my motherboard and after reading the manual I have successfully created a logical drive for the raptors 70GB running at 20,000 RPM for my Windows XP 32 Bit and another 68.5 GB running at 20,000 RPM for my Windows Vista 64 Bit. Why 20,000 RPM? Simple i’m using RAID 0 which combines to hard drives into 1 logical drive which combines their speed making it double. After setting up the boot priority i’m ready to install my Windows XP. It took me around 20mins to reformat the drive (not the quick format) and it took me 7 mins to copy & install Windows XP. The hard disk are very powerful indeed. It’s what they say you got what you paid for.
